Furgeson Elementary is a Title I school in the City of Hawaiian Gardens, California. The enrollment is about 400 students in Kindergarten through 6th grade. We offer two instructional programs: All English Instruction and Early-Exit Bilingual Program (K-3). Our staff operates under the professional learning community tenets. We believe collaboration is key to success. Our teaching staff meets weekly to discuss student progress, best practices, and to create SMART Goals to ensure all our students are successful and showing growth. We encourage and value parent and community participation: Together we can do more!

MAGNET INFORMATION - BROADCAST

As one of the originally funded magnet schools in our District, Furgeson Elementary, with a Communication & Technology focus, proudly offers our students the opportunity to enhance their reading, writing, speaking and collaboration skills through their participation in our Furgeson Video Magazine. This biweekly news magazine broadcasts to all our classrooms on Fridays. Our 4th through 6th grade students report, write, anchor, tape, and edit our Furgeson Video Magazine which showcases: school and community news, reports on all special events, as well as public service announcements.

What is a Magnet School?

A Magnet School is one that is chosen by its district and the federal government to receive extra funding, equipment, teachers, and training to "specialize" in a chosen field or two. All of the 16 Magnet Schools in ABCUSD have been awarded over $20 million federal monies to develop and sustain theme-based programs of excellence.
